I have a question for you…Are YOU taking care of your house? You are probably thinking ” well, sure I’m taking care of my house”. But think about it are you really? I’m not talking about the roof over your head kinda house, I’m talking about your body. Yes, your body is your house! Are you taking care of YOU? Are you doing the maintenance on your house that you so desperately need? I have to say that I struggle in this area myself! I am the first to admit that I don’t take care of “me” like I should.
You know if you don’t take care of your house it tends to run down. You have to put on a new roof sometimes to keep it from leaking, or paint it every now and again to keep it looking fresh and beautiful. So what makes you think your body doesn’t need the same love and attention? Most of the time we go out of our way to help someone else before we ever think about ourselves. I am here to tell you that we need to spend more time on us! I personally would much rather spend my time and energy on my kids, my husband, and anyone else besides me.
Say I am a plumber by trade. Well, kind of ridiculous but we will go with it lol Everyday I would get up and go to work fixing everyone’s leaky faucets and rework everyone’s plumbing. Then, everyday I would come home tired and slap wore out. When someone comes over to visit, you are little embarrassed because you have leaky pipes. You are so tired from working on everyone else’s that you just have no energy to work on your own. Sound familiar?
That’s kinda how most of us are. We work, we clean,we take care of the kids,we take care of our spouses and at the end of the day there’s nothing left over for us.
I am so bad at this, I would much rather spend my time, energy on my family. So much so that I neglect my own health. I am preaching to myself mostly but, come on guys I know I’m not the only one. We have to take ownership of our house! We need to take the time out to deal with issues while they are just small issues. Don’t wait til they are full blown problems. Most of the time if you take care of the small drips then you can keep big holes from forming. So all I’m saying is love your house and take the time it needs to make repairs. Bottom line is in the end if you don’t take care of you, you may not be around to take care of the ones you love so much!
Take a little extra time out to pamper yourself! You deserve it!
